Paintball Re-Cap by Eric H.

Hey Everyone,
Last Saturday, (12-01-07) the ELC Senior High group went paintballing at Paint Pursuit Games. Even though we were playing in 27° degree weather and snow, everyone had a great time. One of the games we played was capture the flag which got everyone up and moving. Everyone loved it. Personally, I liked this place much better than some of the other paintball places I’ve been to. It had better props, like they had half tracks, army tanks (sorry these are fake), villages, and bridges. If you would like to get some more inform ation you can visit their website at paintpursuitgames.com

Thanks, Eric, for the great recap! Hopefully we'll get to go again in the spring.

A Message from a Youth: Nick

Recently, the Jr. High Youth went on a "Dinner and a Movie" excursion. Some people loved the movie; others thought it was just "OK." Here's what Nick M. had to say:

The Youth Group Movie going night was a great time! The movie was just okay, it was Fred Claus. It didn’t matter how the movie was though, all that really mattered was that you were with a group of your peers. The thing that was really terrific was the free food. Free food is always a good thing, especially when it’s Buffalo Wild Wings (or BW3s as Tim calls it). We sat in the upper level of the church chomping on delectable spicy wings while making jokes and playing the good ol’ game of “Would you rather.” Besides the quality of the movie, the evening was great and I recommend to anyone who enjoys a good time.

Thanks for the thoughts, Nick!

New Change in Schedule

Hello All,
I just talked to the youth pastor at Edison Park Lutheran Church, and we've changed the Laser Tag lock-in from Saturday, December 15th to Friday, December 14th. It's updated on the schedule. The time will be from 12:00 midnight to 6:00am! The cost is only $20 per person and it will be a night of crazy tag games. The kids should sign up early to reserve their spot!

See you in church,

Forest Preserve Clean-Up

I'm sore. Very very sore.

I didn't feel sore on Saturday right after the clean up. But I guess sawing down trees for three hours will do that to you. And I wasn't even the hardest working one!

Emily was running around lobbing off branches like they were toothpicks. Sania's goal of the day was to find the thickest trees and snap them in two with the lobbers. Breanne would diligently work on a tree, sawing continuously until it came tumbling down. And Nathan was trying his best to caber-toss the trees over the brush pile.

It was a fun day. Noreen and David really helped out with organization and labor, and I have to say, the Edgebrook brush pile was not the prettiest, but it was the biggest!

And for that, my friends, we should be proud.

Laser Tag!

On Tuesday, October 23rd, Crossroads went to Laser Quest in Norridge, IL. To play we all had to pick different code names, and I have to say, some were quite creative. Some examples were:

Razzle
Dagger
Hello
Lucskywlkr
Yoda
Embobo
Yourself
Shocker
Luther (that was mine...yes, very original)

We had a great time, even when the fire alarm went off during the second game. As we all headed back to the exit, the Marshall instructed us to keep playing (the fog caused the alarm to go off). There we all were, standing next to each other with our taggers and vests on, waiting to leave, and we were told to continue playing. So we all turned and started tagging each other, scoring TONS of points right there! It was hilarious. Needless to say, I got second place that game. The others were way too slow.

We had a great bonding time, and enjoyed some games of DDR and air hockey afterward.

Our next youth event is Saturday, October 27th at the Forest Preserve between Caldwell and Milwaukee from 9am-12 noon. We had a great time at this event, and we'll have a great time at that one too! The Forest Preserve cleanup is for both Crossroads and EMERGE. We'll meet at ELC at 8:45 and carpool over there. I have one parent volunteer, and am always looking for more!

Thanks for coming out to Laser Tag, more great events are to come!

See you in church,
VT...
